Home is where the pencils are..
"There are never any pencils in this house" You can hear this said by my oldest son, my husband, and yup even me. Even though we have tons of pencils, pens, markers, crayons, and various other writing utensils..it seems whatever it is you need, it is not in this house. So I thought it would be funny to create a stuffed house that holds pens and pencils and markers and crayons.

So while you may not find a pen is our house, you can certainly find one in this house. It has four pockets. Two deep skinny pockets, and two wide shorter pockets.

I'll admit it was a little rushed, so the door is off center, and its kind of rumbly bumbly...but I also kind of like that about it.

This morning it started snowing as I dropped off my oldest son at school and hasn't stopped since! They say we are only going to get an inch, but it already seems to be a few inches deep. Its beautiful, like walking around in a snow globe! I do hope it lets up later when i have to go out and run a bunch of errands, or I just atleast hope thye clear the roads. One thing I have noticed about Pennsylvania is the roads are awful! We live right by the border of Maryland, and it is so funny right where the states meet you can literally see a huge difference. The Maryland section of the road will be completely clear, not a bit of snow or ice...while the Pennsylvania side is coated! It looks like they barely scrape them, and don't use salt at all. Its really odd to see such a huge difference.

ETA--I keep forgetting to say, but Taryn has some of my woodblock paintings up for sale at MyMy:
http://mymy.girlswirl.net I think she still has three left!

I had a house similar to that that my Mom made for me with stuffed furniture and 'people'.When I got to old for it I used to hide my candy in it!Just thought I'd share a nice memorie that your house evoked for me.

First, that house is great, I love the off-center door and those shingles!
Second, I know what you mean about the snow difference between states..I live in Kentucky, right across the river from Ohio, and it is like night and day when it comes to "snow preparation". It's actually been declared a snow emmergency at my house before, then I cross the brige to my parents, and everything is fine!

i'm feeling the snowplowing/salting discrepancy right now. :p i live in MD, but am in VA right now at my bf's place.. absolutely stuck b/c of the snow! at my place they always salt the night before snow is predicted and they also plow immediatly. not so for VA. :( well at least not in crystal city anyway. :p

Both houses in the post are great! I love the stuffed house/pencil holder, it's very cute. And the white house in the photo with green shutters looks a lot like mine. I hope you enjoy the snow, especially if you don't really have anywhere to go.

That house is adorable!!

I have the same problem. I hoarde supplies of all types, and yet, because of poor organizational skills, many times they are nowhere to be found. I have remedied this by keeping a freezer ziplock bag full of my most common sketchbook tools in one spot, and I have started keeping plastic IKEA bathroom boxes full of writing/drawing tools.
